Ahead of the Curve Physiotherapy Consulting has been providing corrective and therapeutic custom foot orthotics in the Elk Valley since 2003. With university-trained, regulated physiotherapists and pedorthists assessing, casting, manufacturing and dispensing your 100% custom orthoses, why wouldn't you want to benefit from more than 16 years' schooling and 25 years experience in the field?
What we do and how we do it differently
1. Your Assessment
With Heather Kerr, B.Sc.PT doing your one-on-one assessment, you benefit from 6 years of university education and 8 years of postgraduate training, not to mention a rigorous licensing process. You can expect a thorough look at your structure and movement from your belly button down to your toes. Whether you have a medical condition, a recurrent injury, or a need for better performance in your sport or on your stage, Heather has the knowledge to help you decide how orthotics might help you be your best.
2. Plaster of Paris Casting
This is the orthotic industry standard for taking the shape of a client's foot, and has been widely researched for 50 years. Your cast is laser scanned to allow the same CAD/CAM correction as other providers, but the plaster cast provides the ability to manually customize your prescription, even beyond the thousands of points already available on the computer system. At the end of the day, we feel that humans make better decisions than computers alone.
3. The Professionals
From assessment to manufacture to follow-up, with Ahead of the Curve, you are dealing with licensed professionals – university-trained practitioners whose work is covered by insurance companies and the government. Not only that, but we also spent years studying the many conditions, from orthopaedic to neurological to physiological, that can be responsible for changes in a person's feet and walking gait. Not only did we learn how to spell them all correctly, but we are the licensed professionals best suited to rehabilitating these conditions!
4. The Lab
There are a lot of orthotic labs to choose from. Ahead of the Curve is partnered with hotlink www.aresorthotics.com (ARES Orthotics in Calgary, AB) for a specific reason: the combination of education and experience. ARES is operated by a physiotherapist and a pedorthist – licensed, regulated professions that train at a university level. From assessment to manufacture to dispensation, all the professionals involved speak the same language and adhere to the same high standards. Why wouldn't you want to benefit from the combination of more than 15 years of schooling and 25 years of postgraduate experience?
5. The Product
Whether you need high impact plastic or graphite, dense EVA, cork or foam orthotics, and whether you need them short, medium or full-length, we've got your ticket! We are happy to accommodate parts of feet that stick out too far or not far enough, or even parts that are missing. Our work is 100% guaranteed and we do most post-production modifications on site, saving you time.
You can expect your orthotics to last you 3-5 years with normal wear and adult feet, and your topcovers to last at least 6 months. Any exceptions to this will be fully credited.
