Hi, I’m Heather Kerr, registered physiotherapist. I have been practising in the Elk Valley since 2002, where I started as the first physiotherapist prescribing custom foot orthotics and specialising in gait analysis. I went on to obtain my Certificate in Manual and Manipulative Physical Therapy and my license to practise acupuncture.
In 2014, after returning from pelvic floor physiotherapy training in France with l’École internationale de rééducation du plancher pelvien, I started Ahead of the Curve, which allows me to treat with the attention to detail that helps me be at my most effective. I am happy to help clients with a variety of physio concerns find resolution.
I really appreciate the portability of my profession and the depth of knowledge that comes from work-related travel. My work has taken me to Whitehorse, Yukon (PhysioPlus), and Active Running and Therapy Centre in North Bay, ON. In 2005-6 I served as a university-level professor of physiotherapy in the Asian country of Bhutan at the Royal Institute of Health Sciences in Thimphu.
I have also served as a mentor in the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, published scientific research in physiotherapy, and been a teaching assistant in pelvic floor physiotherapy education in Canada.
I am happy to provide phyisotherapy in either of Canada’s official languages. Ou les deux!
Outside Ahead of the Curve, I enjoy writing, mountain sports, swimming, lifting, parenting my daughter and contributing to regional francophone activities. I volunteer as a coach with the Fernie Nordic Society and an assessor for the LORAN scholarship.
